Sash Window Repair Specialists In London, History preserved
January 15, 2010 by Jason Manning · Leave a Comment
One thing I miss, living out here in the tropics, is sash windows. I grew up with these beautiful windows in my grandmothers home in Yorkshire and have loved them ever since. The rapidly changing landscape of a large city such as London has seen many of these beautiful windows disappear, but as people become more aware of this loss they use sash window repairs in London and more people are maintaining these icons of historic architecture.
The buildings of a city tell you so much about it, and replacing or maintaining sash windows is integral to this. My impressions are purely sentimental, being able to reach up and look through a window, even though I was very small and Nana showing me how to open the top with the cord, so I couldn\’t fall out, is something I remember.
I also remember driving through Regents Park in London as an adult and the building there were impressive, but what to me was more impressive, was the sheer size of these windows. I suppose you can tell that I have always had a thing for windows, but many people do.
The charm of these windows shows in a large variety of buildings, and London has plenty of this. They feature in magnificent edifices such as St. Paul\’s Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament, and much domestic housing architecture.
Hillingdon is an area just outside London and the refurbishment of the Barra Hall has seen a fine example of architecture using sash windows, restored to its former glory. This is a Victorian building which was almost left to ruin, but as it has a Grade II listing, its restoration became very important. Chief upon the list of materials most needed, was the correct kind of windows, and they now look very beautiful indeed.
Residents and business owners in London can also do their bit to protect the historical architecture of this great city. So call in sash window repairs in London, before you even think about having those draughty old windows replaced. A lot can be done to save them, make them completely weatherproof, and retain the historical looks of your building.

Listing On The MLS -A Flat Fee Listing Can Save A Bundle!
January 15, 2010 by Virginia Sutherland · Leave a Comment
Selling your house? Have you considered going with a flat fee MLS listing?
Or, if you\’re like most people selling their homes today, have you never given any though to this option? In either case, there are some facts to consider before signing a contract with a real estate agent that promises them a big commission for selling your house.
In most areas, about 6 percent of the final sales price will go right into the listing agent\’s pocket. That\’s a huge chunk of money for, in far too many cases, not all that much work. With a flat fee MLS listing, you can save thousands of dollars.
In trade group polls of people who have recently sold a home, many of them report that they don\’t feel like the agent worked very hard to sell their home, and that the commission they got wasn\’t justified. There\’s a reason so many of them feel that way – it\’s often the case that the listing agent doesn\’t do all that much to sell a house. They help set a price, take some photos, put a sign in the yard, and list it with the MLS service. And guess what? In the vast majority of cases, the house sells not because the listing agent recommended it to a client, but because a prospective home buyer saw it in the MLS and asked another agent to show it to them.
It\’s the listing that is really crucial in most cases. That\’s what gets your house seen, and attracts interested buyers. It\’s not your listing Realtor knocking themselves out to line up a buyer for your house. Most agents list as many houses as possible, and find themselves with far too many to effectively market. But they know that once a house is on the MLS, odds are good someone will see it and make an offer. So why pay thousands and get little in return? The listing is the key factor, and with a flat fee MLS listing you can get your house seen, and save thousands of dollars.
